What to Do to Remove Car Decals

  1. Clean around the sticker. It’s a good idea to make sure there is no dirt or debris near your sticker. We recommend giving your car a car wash as the heat will also help loosen the glue underneath.
  2. Heat the sticker. For the best results, you will need to loosen the adhesive. Use a hairdryer to heat the center of the sticker. After a few seconds heat the edges. Make sure to never accidentally touch the sticker or paint with your hairdryer as the heat may leave a burn mark.
  3. Lift the edges with a credit card. If your decal is on paint, you will need something thin and sturdy to lift the sticker. Credit cards are great options as they won’t leave scratches behind. As you lift, you will need to work a bit quickly as the sticker can quickly cool. If the sticker cools, heat it up again with your hairdryer. Never jab or scratch at the sticker. Completing this job properly requires some patience. Also, don’t worry if the sticker breaks during the process as this is common.
  4. After removal, clean the area again. Car decals will often leave some residue behind. Gently clean the area with a clean cloth and an adhesive remover.

We hope you found this guide helpful. If you decide to add decals later on, avoid the paint. It is easier and less risky to remove stickers from glass, such as the corners of your car windows.
